First generation South African, Helmut Meijer was born into the haven of eclectic musicianship in 1978 - his Dutch father a meastro in the art of pipe organ performance; his mother fast and fluent on the piano. Rebelling at first against their lead, Helmut finally plunged into the world of music early in the summer of 1996. After an attempt to pursue Astronomy as a career, he finally graduated with a Master's degree (cum laude) in Music Technology at the University of Stellenbosch in 2004. With several hundred tracks to his credit, Helmut has also been performing in South Africa with top local artists since 1997 as well as in the UK and Middle East with artists from Nieu Zeeland, Australia, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and America. Traveller, composer, producer, artist and lecturer in Film Music at the British Academy of New Music - Helmut Meijer is associated with the isoteric orbit of cutting edge World, Electronica and Ambient Music.
